Homework Task - Monday 10th June 2013.

How have you tried to facilitate and encourage your own creativity?
It was a gradual build up of creativity as I became more determine to develop and reinforce my creativity towards tasks as I held back at the beginning of the set tasks. I decided to use initiative towards the end and follow through in accordance to my own creativity alongside another member of my group, I believe that was when my creativity was at its strongest as I put my own ideas forward, however I went ahead to peruse them with confidence which is something I lacked towards the beginning.

Did you experience limits/blocks on your own creativity?
Time was a  big block with our task as we decided to change our initial idea last minute with blocks of communication within our group and productivity being minimal. Also within the group individuals not wanting to participate was a big blockage as it demotivated me to go on and enjoy the task. Also, obstacles such as the editing stage was difficult as I completed it by myself so used my own creativity to craft the final piece. Sound was something that the group had different opinions about some of the sounds I originally used.

How easy/difficult was it to be creative while still working to the brief?
I think in some ways this made things so much easier as it gave us a clear direction and ensured that we covered all elements, as well as us being able to convert stereotypes and any mistakes made were okay as long as we could relevantly justify them which is something we did with sound, as we subverted the conventions of horror.

Did working within conventions stifle your creativity?
I think that this encouraged our creativity as it allowed us to go further with it by using our creativity to conform and subvert conventions. We did both with our task which all members of the group encouraged, our main focus being sound as that was something we worked on the most.

To what extent did you need to work with others and ‘bounce ideas’ off other people to be truly creative?
This was something my group lacked as we all held back with our input to ideas as we went with the first idea that came to mind but didn't develop them further which was the reason to our downfall when it came to the practical work and nothing working which de motivated us all. We overcame this however and changed our idea and this was when we did all use our own creativity and developed it further by bouncing our own ideas off of the others in the group.

How much of your creativity was about trial and error?
A huge part of trial and error reinforced the development of our creativity individually. Our first attempt was a big failure and we learnt a lot from this which reflected in our second attempt of us pushing our creativity further and working as a group. However, the group work wasn't  a massive improvement as time wasn't on our side so our individual creativity produced a final piece that reflected our development of our creativity.

To what extent was a lack of confidence an issue in terms of your creativity?
My confidence acted as a big block in terms of my creativity as I didn't think my ideas would be any help as they weren't the best, however overall our group lacked bettering loads of average level ideas to end with a good idea. So that is something I regretted with our first attempt however, I developed this weakness by inputing more ideas in the second attempt which paid off as our final film was a lot stronger than our first one.

To what extent was a lack of technical competence/confidence an obstacle to your creativity?
DONT UNDERSTAND.
